Homeschool, Science and You?

I have a belief that there are several essential concepts that are the foundation of understanding all the sciences. I've been working on this concept for a while and have uncovered two amazing findings. First, this is a herculean task, and second I may never finish it! However, I have found some of what I believe, to be core understandings and skills for better understanding the world around us and this is what I intend to give the participants in my classes. A few of these "essentials" are observation, problem solving, creative thinking, thermodynamics, and newtonian motion. Of course, anything I teach would take into account the age and prior experience of the learners. For me, the heart of science, the reason I do science education, is to encourage and enable a sense of wonder. Science gives us the skills to observe things around us, ask questions (wonder) about that which we see, and then logically pursue those questions. It is my goal to increase those skills for all the children that I teach.

This video will help to explain more.

I have recently moved to Chapel Hill North Carolina. If you're about 45 minutes or less from Chapel Hill and you have about 10 children aged 8 and up interested in a class, please e-mail me or call (919) 929-9791 for more information.
